Vienna Horn
This is a Vienna style horn that plays in F or Bb. The horn has the traditional "Wiener pumpen valves", clockwork sprung finger buttons, and a terminal crook. This is not a true Vienna horn, as the expansion of the bore of the instrument is that of a standard French horn. Also, rather than changing the pitch of the instrument by using a terminal crook, the F and Bb crooks are in fact the main tuning slide. The leadpipe can still be removed as if it were a terminal crook, but due to the design of the instrument an F crook would not fit properly. The F and Bb tuning slide crooks as well as the removable leadpipe were all customized specifically for this horn. The valve cluster, valve mechanics, and the valves themselves were all built entirely from scratch here in our shop.
