We are now building Swiss Alphorns! We are also experimenting with different accessories, such as music holders, alphorn tripod stands and mouthpieces. Prices for our horns start at about $2000 for a basic instrument, and can of course go up much higher for more elaborate horns. Here are some examples of different horns that we are currently building:
Carbon Fiber "Narwhal" Series Horns:These are relatively lightweight and low-maintenance instruments. There is a carbon fiber core, which is then wrapped in wood veneer with a wood foot and bell ring. We are currently offering these as standard in either mahogany with birch accents, or hickory with walnut accents. Other woods available on request.
25-Foot Long "Bull Moose" Horns:These horns are similar to the "Moose" series horns, but are built twice as long so that they play an octave lower. They are made to be as lightweight as possible, which for a horn that is nearly 25 feet long and has a bell that is more than a foot wide means 45-65 pounds. They can come apart into 4-foot sections which fit together into a 2'x2'x4' bag, meaning that they are not that much more inconvenient to transport than a regular alphorn.

Redwood "Moose" Series Horns:These horns are made from redwood, with birch accents and bells. The body of the horn is constructed from 8 staves, and so is octagonal. The bell is made from birch veneer with a binding layer of micarta in between for strength.
"Würzhorn" Style Alphorns:These horns are made either from whole trees or branches of trees that happen to be in a shape which can be made into an alphorn. The bark is removed and the entire horn is split in two pieces, which are then hollowed out and glued back together. The horn is then finished with a tone ring and connection pieces. Each one of these horns is completely unique, so playing qualities and prices vary.
